Rituals miracle hand balm

One of my very first posts was about the amazing Ginko's Secret hand balm from Rituals... and its still right up there at the top of my hand products list, it just cant be beaten!! Rituals have introduced another 2 additions to the range- Miracle Balm (£10.00 for 75mls) and Happy Hands (£8.50 for 75mls). After testing them both out in the shop, I decided to try out the Miracle Balm- I was told it was alot richer and thicker than my beloved Ginkos secret (which now has new packaging). It is specially formulated to sooth dry, rough hands and smells wonderfully of white lotus and Ginkgo Biloba.

Miracle Balm (pink), Ginkgo's secret (Green), Happy hands (orange)
So for my review...

This product does do wanders for very dry hands, but for me its a little too thick to use during the day. It is absolutely perfect to massage into the hands just before bed, allowing them to really benefit from the balm overnight. The smell is divine- it really does have such a wonderful fresh smell that lasts on the hands for ages too. I shall be sticking to Ginkgo's secret for my every day hand cream and saving this for the evening or when my hands are in need of some extra TLC. If anyone has tried Happy hands I would love to hear your reviews.

The Naked 2 Pallete by Urban Decay

The Naked 2 palette is a very popular and much talked about palette from Urban Decay. Being the owner of the original Naked palette, I debated with myself weather the £37.00 would be a justified spend. Luckily enough my internal debate didn't last very long, as my darling other half bought it me as a Christmas present.

I have been very impressed with this palette and I have to admit, since getting this, the original Naked palette has been a little abandoned to say the least. As most of you know, I'm a palette gal'- I love them, I literally cant get enough palettes in my life. I love the convenience of having everything in one place, and being able to pop them into your bag to touch up on the go.

So, for the swatches....

Foxy: A lovely nude beige with yellow undertones. Its very sheer and could be used as a brow highlight.

Half baked: A gorgeous frosty golden bronze. This colour is also in the original naked palette which I was a little disappointed about.

Bootycall: A very pale, shimmery frosted white colour.

Chopper is a very glittery metallic rose gold colour.

Tease: A very matte dirty taupe colour with some deep purple undertones. I only ever use this in the crease.

Snakebite: A very deep bronzed brown colour. Well pigmented and blends nicely.

Suspect: a metallic champagne colour. I need to remind myself to use this colour more as its very pretty.

Pistol is a deep metallic grey. Not one of my most used but its a fabulous colour.

Verve:  A very light metallic pale grey with a hint of lilac undertones. I adore this one- its so sexy and makes those eyes just pop!

YDK: A metallic taupe with coppery flecks. I use this one all the time after seeing a tutorial I just loved, it works so well with all the other colours in this palette.

Busted: A deep burgundy. Not my very favourite but a nice addition to the palette.

Blackout:  A very pigmented  matte jet black. It Blends impressively. I love this smudged into my lower lash line, mixed in with a bit of Busted.

The palette comes with a two ended brush and a lip-gloss. I would have much preferred the Urban Decay eye primer (that comes with the original palette) than this very small lip-gloss. It seemed a little random to me- the palette is an eye palette after all.

Overall I'm very very pleased with my (or my partners should I say) purchase. Its well worth the money. I have so many eye-shadows and palettes, yet I always find myself grabbing this one first.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick

I'm one of these people that has a huge draw of lipsticks- yet uses about 3. Once I have found a shade I adore, I usually stick to using it for a good while. Recently I discovered the Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipsticks.

No 90- Rose Coquette (Left)  No 19- Corail en Vogue (right)

I purchased two of them- No 90- Rose Coquette and No 19- Corail en Vogue. I was very pleasantly surprised with these lippies, they glide on so smoothly and leave the lips nice and moisturised- and the two colours I picked up are perfect!! The coverage is quite sheer but can be built up with a couple of coats.

I would recommend giving this range a try- and for under a tenner it wont brake the bank either.

In Love with Lush!!

I thought the best way to start my posts of 2014, is with my latest obsession! I have found a brand I am so very in love with! Lush have been around for a while now- and although I would pop into the wonderfully smelling store occasionally for the odd bath bomb or two, I had never realised the extent of the amazing products they make!

For those of you who are not familiar with the brand- Lush are all about natural, handmade cosmetics. They gained my respect not only for their fabulous natural products- but also for the work they do for the environment. They are also strongly against animal testing and continue to passionately campaign against it.

If you have ever had the pleasure of walking into a lush shop- you will know what I mean about being overwhelmed with the incredibly gorgeous smell. Many products use wonderfully smelling essential oils that make you just want to pull up a seat and sit in there all day long!!

So here are a few of my favourite products that I have tried out so far...

BB Seaweed Face mask

This contains seaweed,  rose absolute, ground almonds and aloe vera. Its gorgeous and leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished. My favourite of them all!!

I have tried 3 other face masks from their collection...

Catastrophe Cosmetic

Lush describe this mask as 'a calming and moisturising fresh face mask packed with blueberries, calamine and chamomile, rose, and almond oils to soothe and soften the skin'. And it does just that- its a great one for when those naughty little blemishes decide to make an appearance!!

Cosmetic Warrior

An antibacterial tea tree and fresh garlic. Now...I like garlic- I am actually quite a garlic fan, I like it in my cooking, I don't mind the smell, but I have to admit I do not like plastering it all over my face. The smell of this was not nice- I certainly wont be repurchasing this one- sorry lush I'm just not a fan.

                                               Oatifix

The latest one I have tried is Oatifix. It is described as a gentle, nourishing mask, made with fresh bananas and illipe butter to moisturise dry skin. I like this mask but its not one of my favourites. I'm not too keen on the consistency- and although I'm sure the ingredients are doing wanders when its applied, it just doesn't sit well on the skin.

All masks cost me £5.95 and come in a cute little pot made out of recycled plastic (If you return 5 of the pots to them they will give you a free face mask- so a nice little incentive to start recycling!!) And don't forget to store them in the fridge too- the fresh ingredients need to be kept nice and cool.

Trichomania Shampoo

I was a little unsure about trying the solid shampoo bars, but after reading such good reviews I decided to give one a try....and im so glad I did! I need moisture in my hair due to having extensions so the helpful lady in the shop recommended for me to try 'Trichomania'. This is a solid shampoo that contains creamed coconut and  vetivert oil to really hydrate and nourish the hair. It lathers up nicely and works wanders- certainly one of my top shampoos. And its ideal for travel too!!

Karma Solid perfume

This is Lush's signature scent. You will either love it or hate it. I'm one of these people who adore the whole 'essential oils' smell. To me this is the best smell ever- orange, spices and patchouli. A real bargain for just £5.00. It melts into your skin and lasts for absolutely ages!!

Karma Bubble Bar

After becoming addicted to the 'Karma' scent I decided to try out the Karma bubble bar. Although it only cost £3.25, I was a little worried that it would be a 'one use' kind of item but its not. You can break a piece off and hold it under the running tap and lashings of creamy bubbles form. I broke mine into quarters and found that created enough bubbles for me. So I will certainly be getting a couple more of these.

 Lip scrubs

Im not sure how my lips survived before this amazing little find. An all natural- all edible lip scrub that effectively exfoliates your lips and removes any rough or dead skin. I purchased the Mint Julips first and was so impressed that I went out and treated my lips to the Popcorn lip scrub too!!

Soaps

There are so many soaps to choose from- I will be trying them out one by one as I use them up. The first I have tried is Sea vegetable. Described by Lush as  'antiseptic lavender oil, exfoliating sea salt, and nutrient-rich Arame seaweed that leaves your skin feeling like a baby’s. Lime and lemon oil leave you feeling fresh and lively. Its lovely- im very impressed. One of those soaps that leaves your hands smelling gorgeous even after they are dried.

Colour supplements
(Foundation)

Colour supplements can be used as foundation or mixed to make a tinted moisturiser. I have actually been quite lucky that this yellow based colour matches my skin-tone very well and seems to blend quite nicely when used with a brush. I wont lie and say the finish is quite the same standard as some of the foundations I have- but its not bad at all. It feels a little heavier on the face than what im used to wearing (but this could be avoided by adding a little moisturizer). Its worth a try for sure- you cant go wrong for £8.95 for a 20g pot.

These are just a few of the products I have tried recently- and I will continue to keep you updated with more favourites as soon as I discover them. This is certainly my 'go-to' brand of the moment. Let me know your favourites!!
